Hopping off to Greece
So it’s confirmed, I’m moving to Greece at the start of May for six months :) I’ll be working in the sales team for a company called “Water Hoppers” who are a dive school on the Island of Rhodes. Basically i gotta walk about the Island getting people to sign up for a dive. Its gona be allot of work as It’s commission based, but what the hell look where I’m gona be.
I gotta fork out a bit of money for the first months rent, deposit, flights etc. but what ya gona do? I plan to work my ass of for the whole month of May taking no days of if possible, hopefully this will get me back on my feet for June. Im totally gona get myself a Skateboard and just kick about the curbs. I’ve been wanting to do it for ages, but the streets in Glasgow are purrrrre shite and I would have to be rolling on 60mm’s (Big Wheels) just to cross the street.
My flight to Rhodes is on the Second of May and I’m flying from Liverpool, Lewis Jenning’s is gona be giving me a lift cos he IS the top dog! Cheers Brah! I’m going to be about Glasgow for maybe a week before, so spare time for some SICK hangs!
24 Degrees today btw…. just sayin.
Aiya!
Today was a great day off skiing. The weather was not the best, but I felt the need for speed really kicking in. I did manage to fuck my arm on the last run going off a kicker, prob not a good idea considering i couldn’t see two meters in front of me. Oh well…
Smack for breakfast
Yikes! It’s been eleven days since I’ve updated my Blog and I’m sure you have all been sitting on the edge of your seats. I have quickly taken to a daily routine which consists of waking up around eight, having a bowl of Smack, heading to the mountain, skiing for a bit, having my lunch, skiing some more, come home and do whatever we feel. It’s a hard life!
About a week ago we had some visitors, my cousin Stacey and her boyfriend Lee. Lee was a boarder and Stace had never skied before, so with my three days more experience I was feeling pretty cocky, as I was to be the far superior skier. This was slightly true until the last day when we decided to ski to the bottom of the mountain and my legs decided to say “Fuck it” I was falling all over the place and this put a rather large dent in my confidence. Stacey is a fitness fanatic and just sailed on down.
The following day was a day of rest. We had to take Stacey, Lee and Hols to the airport as they were all flying home. Stacey and Lee for work, but Hols was heading back to the homeland to finally get her braces off. We said goodbye to a geek and welcomed a Colgate ad.
The next day I was determined to be better, so I got Iff to teach me some secrets of the slopes and within a few hours of skiing with him I was already twice as better! That guy sure can ski and sure can teach.
On the Friday we had another visitor, Iffy’s pal Sophie who was alleged to also be a bit of a shredder. The rumours were true; it was like watching two flies chasing after each other around the mountain. Later on that night we decided to hit the town and I got well and truly hammered. We started of in a Reggae bar where the DJ was from California and apparently I was from “Glascow” He was a bang on Reggae stereotype with dreadlocks, baggy breeks etc. We then headed to the Latino Bar, which turns out to be a gay hangout on a Saturday night. I didn’t really notice this as my attention had been drawn to a rather nice bum. Good-looking people in Swiss are VERY scarce, so I thought I would make the most if it. We ended the night on a high at the pub of dreams Hooters!
As you can imagine we were feeling rather rough, but none the less we headed on up for some skiing. My first few runs were awful, but picked up in the afternoon. The best part of the day though had to be when Hols and I pretty much fell asleep on the chair lift and forgot to lift the bar. My sister lost a ski and I managed to stop the whole lift with my pole until it gave way and snapped in half. Pretty damn funny if you ask me!
Well that’s us up to date and ill try not to leave it so long next time. I’m currently applying for jobs all over Europe, so wish me luck!
Clouds
No skiing today as the gods have decided to be dicks.
First it givith then taketh away
Today will be a music day
Holy fuck, is this Narnia!?
So I had my first two days of skiing and its safe to say I’ve got the bug. The first day was an absolute belter, Iffy and I headed to the box office expecting to pay 647CHF for a thirty-day pass that works out about £432. Iffy though, decides to whip out his BASI instructor card to see if he could chance a discount. And what do you know we get a 50% off! My first and only run on the first day was full of pain. It took me a whole hour; I’ve never felt so weak in my life. Especially when my sister did it in fifteen minutes. The run I managed to “conquer” was blue 22 or as the locals like to call it “The Narnia Run” It’s four miles long and it doesn’t get any wider than about 7 meters, but my god it’s a beaut and it certainly lives up to its name. My second day was much better; we headed up to the First area (Pronounced Feerst) where the slopes were much wider and a shit load more fun. We plan to get up nice and early tomorrow for a nice long day of skiing, you would not believe how quickly your body adjusts to such an alien thing. Who would of thought sliding about on planks would be so fun!
